Summer Songs: No Doubt to Tour

After four years on the L.A.M.B (ha ha) Gwen Stefani and the guys will hit the road this summer!
No Doubt kicks off its “No Doubt Club Tour: The Best Seats in The House” tour starting May 3rd in Rutherford, NJ with a festival appearance. The tour consists of 44 stops throughout the United States and is slated to wrap up on August 1 in Irvine, California.
Also on the summer tour will be the female fronted rock band Paramour and the super talented singer Janelle Monae.
Tickets go on sale March 7th.

You’d be quite surprised at what you can learn from a pig. And I’m not talking about how to stay cool in the heat. Take this relationship tidbit for instance:

Sexy “Slumdog” Style: Frieda Pinto

Frieda Pinto, the beautiful siren star of Slumdog Millionaire is officially Bollywood’s new it girl. Following the acceptance of the Oscar for Best Picture, Frieda’s whirlwind of publicity shots have circulated.
Most notable stateside is the sexy layout for Complex magazine that has been met with both ogling eyes and a bit of backlash. Some women have found the pictures to be “typical” of what a breakout star is “reduced” to by American standards. Whatever your opinion, the layout is quite sizzling (see pictures below).
As well, Frieda is on the cover of Vogue India (thanks GreasyGuide) looking absolutely stunning and glamorous and tres Hollywood. And of course, we are loving the fuscia cover design.
New Dog for Sasha & Malia!

And so it has been chosen (reportedly at least)! Amongst all that has been going on in the first 100 days of President Obama’s term, a breed of dog has been selected for the White House! Drumroll please… A Portuguese Water Dog will soon arrive at 1600 Pennsylvania to meet its new family. What a lucky dog!
The Portuguese Water Dog that is chosen will be a rescue. This particular breed of canine is a muscular, medium sized dog, with typically curly hair. As the name suggest, PWD’s love to swim, are amicable to other pets, and as most wonderful pups, very loyal.
According to reports, the dog should arrive as early as April. Congratulations and much puppy love to the Obamas!

Erykah Badu celebrates her birthday February 26. The Grammy Award winning singer and actress from Texas is best known for her introduction in the time of neo-soul music. She is often credited as being the first lady of neo-soul. Erykah released the now classic album Baduism in 1997, followed by Live (with what else… but live versions of the songs on Baduism), Mama’s Gun, Worldwide Underground, Badu, and New Amerykah Part 1 (Fourth World War). Erykah has also appeared in films House of D, The Cider House Rules, and Blues Brothers 2000.
She recently gave birth to baby girl Mars with upcoming rapper Jay Electronica. Erykah is also the mother of two other children Seven with Andre 3000 and Puma with The D.O.C.

Come get your catwalk on! In another reality challenge show twist, the forthcoming season of “America’s Next Top Model” will feature real life shawties strutting their stuff on the runway. That’s right, for the 13th cycle the aspiring models are allowed to be under 5′ 7″.
This officially makes 2009 the year of the ‘demure in height’ model one should think. Let’s see if a superstar can arrive out of this crop… Highly doubtful, but this could give birth to a great hand model, a professional eye smiler, or (as we savvy TV viewers suspect) the first famous little person model.
The very extensive applications for “ANTM” contestants are live online right now on the CW website with open calls beginning February 28th, 2009 in Miami, followed by stops in New York, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., and Dallas. Check your local listings low latitude ladies.

Last night the 81st annual movie award celebration known as the Oscar’s took place in Los Angeles. Hosted by Hugh Jackman, the bigger awards went to the following:

- Outstanding Performance by an Actor: Sean Penn / Milk
- Outstanding Performance by an Actress: Kate Winslet / The Reader

- Outstanding Performance by an Supporting Actress: Penelope Cruz / Vicky Cristina Barcelona
Aside from the doling out of naked gold bald headed men, Beyonce made a surprise appearance and Queen Latifah showed her undying talent with a singing eulogy of sorts.

Daughter of music impresario Quincy Jones and actress Peggy Lipton, Rashida Jones celebrates her birthday on February 25. She was born in Los Angeles, CA, attended Harvard University and began her acting career while in college.
She landed a role on “Boston Public” which was followed by “Freaks and Geeks” and in 2006, she began playing a recurring character on NBC’s “The Office.” Rashida is slated to appear in the upcoming TV show “Parks and Recreation” alongside Amy Poehler.

South Florida To Honor Bob & Cedella Marley

Miami always comes through with the haute and sizzling West Indian celebrations. This will be the 16th year that South Florida hosts their annual Caribbean Festival which jumps up and waves around the immensely rich arts, culture, music, and crafts of the islands.
This time around, special honorees include both the late Bob Marley and his mother Cedella Marley Booker who passed away last year. The event will be held at Miami Bayfront Park in downtown Miami on Saturday, February 28, 2009.
