Move Over Diana, Ashanti’s Got a Toto, too!

Ashanti has been chosen to reprise the role of Dorothy in the upcoming NY City Center production of “The Wiz”. Following in the red sequinned footsteps of Diana Ross and Stephanie Mills, Ashanti will hit the stage in her first theatre production.
“The Wiz” is the 1974 rock and soul musical based on L. Frank Baum’s “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” story about Dorothy and her adventures in Oz which won seven Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Score and Best Choreography.
The production begins previews on June 5th and goes through to July5th. Wonder if Nelly will play Mean Ole Lion or the Tin Man?

Ashanti to Take on Tourism

The Long Island lady has been appointed to her community board. Yep, according to the good folks at Greasy Guide, effective Tuesday, Ashanti is now an official tourism ambassador for her hometown of Long Island. The Declaration singer is part of a cadre of nine ambassadors who will promote tourism in Nassau County. Details of Ashanti’s duties include abducting people from the MTA and dropping them off at the “the island next door.” Ok, just kidding. But she did have to don that gawd awful orange blazer… but just for the photo op.

Ashanti’s “Good Good” video from her latest album The Declaration is here. And Miss Thing is definitely declaring a lot… like Nelly as her love thang. The leggy Long Island diva went above and beyond with this one set clip which features her in a number of creative get-ups – an obvious inspiration between 50s sexy housewife and a pin-up girl.
Nelly plays her hard working husband who appears at the top of the video and returns at the end for the denouement: a big fat, *muah* right on the kisser! Claim what is yours Ashanti!

Ashanti is feeling good. And it’s written all over. The singer who, despite poor first week album sales (96k), morphed into quite the beautiful butterfly for her latest album The Declaration has been strutting her hard earned body all around town. Stunning from top to bottom, Ashanti shined at the video shoot for “Body On Me,” a collaborative track between her, Nelly and Akon. The clip was shot at the Red Rock Casino Resort Spa in Las Vegas on June 20th. The finished product is slated to debut on “MTV’s FN Rocks” this weekend. We get a lot of requests for health and wellness information and while we try to oblige, we’re still a growing website. But this week, we have the goods. VH1 posted Ashanti’s summer workout tips via their blog and we grabbed them quick, fast and in a hurry.
Now before you judge and think, ‘oh that’s just some celebrity to-do,’ note that Ashanti has some realistic, sensible and accessible tips here. From what foods to stay away from to how to up the ante at the gym, I’m sure at least one or two of the tips Ashanti offers will be worth your while.
