Soul (and pop) songbirds Mary J. Blige, Janet Jackson, and Leela James will be hitting the stage doing what they do best all for your entertainment. Mary kicks off the “Love-Soul Tour” September 19, 2008 in Virginia Beach before rounding out the 18 stop tour in Oahu, Hawaii! Robin Thicke and Mary’s new artist singer and songwriter Dave Young. Meanwhile Janet Jackson’s “Rock Wit U” tour tickets go on sale Saturday in New York City. Opening for Janet is hip-hop group One Chance who are signed to Usher’s label through J Records. As we know, Janet really loves her fans… so there are all kinds of treats and advance notices and such at her official tour website.
And soul singer and former VH1 “You Oughtta Know” artist Leela James graces the Brazilian club SOB’s at 200 Varick Street in New York City on September 10 and 11. Doors open at 7pm with show to follow at 8:00pm. Tickets will run you between 26.00 and 30.00 depending on whether you buy in advance.

Janet Jackson FCC Fine Dropped!

Janet Jackson’s FCC/CBS fine has been tossed out the door! The $550,000 fine resulted from the “wardrobe malfunction” (boob flashing incident) during Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake’s performance at the 2004 Super Bowl.
The reason for the chucking? The Philadelphia federal appeals court felt that fine was “based on an unjustified and unexplained change in agency policy.” Hmmm, I wonder if Janet and Justin will ever perform together again…
Not Another Dance Show!

What? Is America totally transfixed with dancing shows? “Dancing With the Stars,” “So You Think You Can Dance,” “America’s Next Best Dance Crew,” “Your Mama Don’t…” something or nother… and now Janet Jackson is slated to join the cult. Reports say she’s inked a deal with MTV to “discover” the next singer/dancing star. The aim is to take the show out of the studio and hit the streets. In other news, Janet is still scheduled to head out to all the European spots on her world tour which kicks off in September. She recently reached out to fans via voicemail (GreasyGuide’s got the goods) to confirm that she will be hitting the other side of the pond.

Janet is sick… but she’s fine now. The singer was admitted to Los Angeles’ celeb haunt Cedars-Sinai on Monday night for a bad case of the… flu. Yep, that’s it. She wasn’t even admitted but she did cancel her “SNL” appearance for Saturday. She’s home, resting up and I’m sure washing her hands a lot more these days. See, celebrities are just like us! In fact, it’s probably something she contracted from signing all those autographs for Discipline and shaking all those fan hands.

Last night BET aired the “Access Granted” for Janet Jackson’s new video “Rock Wit You.” I have to be honest in saying that I’m not the biggest Janet fan on earth but I respect her legacy and what she has accomplished over the years… As for “Rock Wit You” - the song and the video get my thumbs up for its sheer multi-culti, glammed out Euro feel.
In other news, Janet will take the top of the Billboard Charts next week with her album Discipline selling more than 181,000 copies in the first week… Following right behind her, “New Amerykah Part One, (4th World War),” Erykah Badu’s first album in 5 years. The sista’s are taking over… one city at a time.
