Did you get your tickets yet?…Meanwhile, MTV’s got mo’ info on the upcoming Beyonce album (*yes!)…Spotville’s got deets on shake-ups at BET - Reggie Hudlin mysteriously leaving his post as head of BET Networks and a “106 & Park” producer in a transgendered mix up… Go figure! New Music Video Tuesday: Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Keri Hilson
July 14, 2008
This is all for the Andre 3000 sighting. We <3 him at MP but what’s up with the “your granny must be Navajo…” line? Hopefully we’re reading into it wrong… you know we expect more from you A3K. Anyways, this is the Fently’s single called “Everybody” also featuring Kanye West.
Meanwhile, the ladies are getting their video clip on too! Alicia Keys latest video - the heroine titled “Superwoman” is flying high. Here is the finished clip.
And Keri Hilson’s video for her newest single has been sent out into the world for all to enjoy. The former guest appearance girl and songwriter turned singer is getting her guns ready in this “Energy” clip from her upcoming album In a Perfect World.
Directed by Melina, “Energy” sees the Atlanta, GA native showing off her million dollar baby boxing skills in a very high quality wet and wavy ‘do.
“The Way I Are” singer is working overtime, appearing on Nas’ recently released “Hero” single.

Grammy Award Show Wrap Up

Everyone’s waxing poetically about the Grammy’s. So I’ll kindly add my opinion. Yes it is the biggest music production of the year and the goal is to deliver the unfathomable which we saw with the MP obsession – Beyonce and living legend Tina Turner! The “Proud Mary” performance was definitely a moment that will more than likely be used as a classic roll-in during the 75th Grammy Award show.
Alicia Keys and the Nat King Cole-esque performance with Frank Sinatra was a creative way to start the ceremony and Alicia’s earthy green dress was quite stunning. Her hair left a little to be desired but the faux eye lashes (I’m sure they were fox) certainly did their job of opening up her peepers. Alicia’s second performance of the multi-award winning “No One” was as to be expected - good. She never ceases to deliver but it was the guest appearance by John Mayer that added the extra sugar. Mayer has officially gone from “ashy” to classy.
Carrie Underwood gave her all and her hair and make-up people deserve an award show bonus. Kanye’s MAMA prominently etched in his hair was a sight to see he won for best rap album for Graduation (and 3 more awards - best solo performance, best rap song, best rap performance by a duo or group). In true Kanye fashion, of course he reprimanded the music cue and kept on with his acceptance speech thanking his mother for her support and promising her he’d become the number one artist in the world.
In celebration of the 50th anniversary, presumably, the stage was bigger and better than years past. Rihanna, who kicked off her performance earlier in the show with the classic band The Time (???), won the award for Best Rap Sung Collaboration for “Umbrella.” But the star of the night was none other than the little lady with the big beehive hair from across the pond.
Four Grammy awards (Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance) went to Amy Winehouse who performed remotely from a London studio. Happy to see the musical prodigy able to sing, Winehouse gave a highly anticipated, drama free show.
And in an upset to both Amy Winehouse and Kanye West, Herbie Hancock took home the Album of the Year Award.
