“The Women” Starring Jada Pinkett Smith & Other Women
June 23, 2008
I was skeptical at first I have to admit, but the trailer, which was recently released for The Women starring a gang of… women (click here for the star studded cast), looks really cute and funny. A little bit SATC, a little bit Thelma & Louise a little bit rock & roll and The Women is seemingly shaping up to be a happening, hilarious, entertaining and endearing flick (at least from the promo).
Given the box office success of SATC, this is prime time for female directed, written, and starred films to show ‘em what we got. Below is the trailer. The movie is slated to arrive in theaters this October.
“Sex and the City” Steals Top Slot at Box Office…
June 2, 2008
It seems that everyone, except a few surprised men and even more surprising- Hollywood, knew that SJP and the gang would head to the top of the box office with the undeniable hit movie Sex and the City. For heaven’s heels, we’d been waiting for this movie for four years!!! And so, it took in over 55 million dollars placing it in top place in just one girls-night-out weekend. According to reports, SATC also had the best R-rated comedy debut since American Pie 2, which opened at 45 milly and landed at an impressive number five for all time R-rated film openings. The other four you ask? The Matrix Reloaded - 91.8 million, The Passion of the Christ - 83.8 million, 300 - 70.9 million, Hannibal - 58 million.
I’m reluctant to say much more about the film, other than I absolutely loved it! And, yes, you’re talking to the “SATC” convert, but as objective as I can be, this film was truly well done. Especially for a work following such a successful TV show. Outside of the museum like fashion that pervaded the entire film, the power of strong friendships, the impact of the importance of love, and the unapologetic ability to be flawed at any age (even when dressed to the nines) played such a hell of a role throughout.
Feel free to post your response to the movie below!

Everything is sunshiney until Meg Ryan’s character has to pry her infidel of a husband from Eva Mendes’ character, a salon girl.
While all the gossip is surrounding Meg Ryan’s character, Annette Bening’s character is contemplating divorce herself.

Lauren London on Set
May 17, 2008
Originally posted 4.16.08
Lauren London with her Dooney & Bourke tote was spotted on the set of her new movie I Love You, Beth Cooper. The flick also stars “Heroes” hottie Hayden Panettiere. Based on the novel of the same name by Larry Doyle, I Love You, Beth Cooper is a coming of age, teen comedy in which a nerdy valedictorian uses his graduation speech time to profess his love for fellow cheerleader (played by Hayden). While the “beauty” (cheerleader character) is touched by the “beast” (nerd character) and his public proclamation, her big, bad and so much cooler boyfriend is not having it. So basically the rest of the movie is the nerd, the cheerleader and her friends (London) ducking the wrath of her animalistic boyfriend. We file this one under: Silly Season.
