The honorable Rita Marley celebrates her birthday July 25, 2008. Reggae singer, wife of the legendary Bob Marley and mother of the musical Marley clan, Rita Marley was born in Jamaica in the 40s. A member of the I Threes, Rita married Bob in 1966. Rita is said to currently be living in Ghana, still singing. Recently she turned on Black Eyed Peas’ first lady Fergie’s album The Dutchess. Rita Marley’s memoirs, as previously reported by Martini Pink, are slated to be released on film next year.

Rita Marley, the wife of legendary reggae icon Bob Marley will be taking her memoir “No Woman, No Cry: My Life With Bob Marley” from the bookshelves to the silver screen courtesy of the Weinsten Company. The Weinsten Company has signed on to develop and produce the film which will chronicle the life and times of the musician as well as his 15 year long marriage to Rita Marley. As has been rumored forever, Lauryn Hill is slated to play the role of Rita Marley. The biopic is scheduled for a late 2009, early 2010 release.
